Built by someone who's done the work

Before I ever wrote a line of code, I was the one running a pet food pantry program on paper logs and spreadsheets. I was logging visits by hand, cross-referencing names to avoid duplicate records, and cobbling together reports every time a grant application needed numbers.

I realized that if I was doing this, others probably were too. So, I decided to build a tool to make life easier for myself and other organizations.

LutraPets is the result, starting with LutraPets Pantry: a pet pantry tracking tool designed the way someone who's actually handed out dog food would design it. I wanted to create a tool that doesn't create a financial or technological barrier to an organization's data, and allows them to turn that data into funding, and in turn to serving more pets and people in their community.

Pantry is just the beginning. LutraPets is growing into a small platform of tools for animal welfare organizations to get a better handle on operations outside of animal management, expanding based on the needs of shelters and rescues across the country.
